It is with heavy hearts that we, Christian, Ismay, and Claudia, Stewards for Great Western War XXIII, announce the postponement of this year's event. It saddens us to have to make this decision, but with the uncertainty in the world today we feel it would not be fiscally, socially, or morally responsible to continue to plan an event that may never be able to come to fruition. As we mentioned in our last announcement we have consulted with many of our advisors and have weighed every option with regard to going forward with the war. The fact that there are still so many unknowns for the near future was the final deciding factor. To allow our volunteer co-stewards, who spend hours helping to orchestrate the event, to pour their valuable time into something that may not happen is not socially responsible. Finally, an event of this magnitude takes months of planning and there are many moving parts to make it come together. To lay out thousands of dollars for equipment, insurance, and labor when the chances of having permission to hold the event are slim, at best, is not fiscally responsible.
