Feinsteins at the Nikko is thrilled to present an evening of jazz from two powerhouse performers, Kim Nally and Houston Person. A legendary progenitor of the soul-jazz genre, tenor saxophonist and record producer Houston Person joins the Bay Areas own celebrated Kim Nalley to celebrate their new album , I WANT A LITTLE BOY. Jazz singer, dancer, former club-owner, activist, promoter, historian, and writer Dr. Kim Nalley is a perfect fit for Houston Person sliding comfortably into a spot that was occupied by the late great Etta Jones for 30 years. Her powerful 3 and 1/2 octave vocal range goes from gritty to operatic on a dime. Like Houston Person, her intense swing can make audiences spontaneously start clapping. Expect an evening of beautiful ballads, bawdy blues, and swinging standards. Like Jon Batiste, Person and Nalley specialize in social jazz in which no audience member is left behind.
