Vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli combines a hard-swinging style rooted in jazz tradition with totally modern lyric interpretations- breathing new life into every song with a contagious joy and thrilling spontaneity. Ms. Stravellis emotional intelligence coincides with a phenomenal voice that she wielded with an easygoing confidence and impeccable taste. -The New York Times Gabrielle regularly leads her quartet in performances at the countrys finest jazz clubs and performing arts centers and has headlined domestic and international jazz festivals including the 2023 Cayman Arts Festival on Grand Cayman Island, the 2021 s song cycle Rooms of Light and toured the U.S. premiering Wynton Marsaliss Abyssinian Mass. As a US State Department Jazz Ambassador she has performed and taught throughout Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and South America. For her September residency at Birdland, Gabrielle will feature a different stellar New York pianist each week along with her musical director, bassist Pat OLeary. Every set will be a unique offering of rare American Songbook material, original compositions and her own arrangements of jazz repertoire.
