What does Jewish law say about how we should act in the presence of a president or any great leader? In this thought-provoking session, Rabbi Uri Pilichowski explores traditional halachic sources that guide Jewish behavior before kings and rulers. We will examine blessings, customs, and texts that have shaped Jewish interactions with power across centuries.
Then we will bring the conversation into the present. Does a president count as a “king”? Do these laws apply to democratically elected leaders? And what does it mean today to show respect without compromising one’s values? Join Rabbi Pilichowski for a timely and spirited exploration of leadership, reverence, and responsibility through the lens of Jewish tradition.
We strive to ensure access and meaningful participation by all. As such, this program will have closed captioning.
