Rabbi Debra Eisenman represents the 17th generation of rabbis in her family. Rabbi Eisenman graduated from the Joint Program of Columbia University and List College at The Jewish Theological Seminary of America in New York. She then entered rabbinical school at JTSA, earning both a master’s degree and rabbinical ordination. She was awarded the Abraham Joshua Heschel Spirit for the Truth Award and the Rabbi Israel Levinthal award for Homiletics for her innovative interpretations of sacred text. In early 2021, Rabbi Eisenman received a Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa, from JTSA. After holding pulpits in Illinois, New York, and Boca Raton, Rabbi Eisenman served as the Head chaplain at Hospice of the Palm Beaches. In 2005, Rabbi Eisenman transitioned to become a Florence Melton School instructor. She has taught the Melton curriculum for over 15 years in Southeast Florida and was honored to receive the title of “Master Instructor." Rabbi Eisenman is passionate about adult interactive education, which is the cornerstone of the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning. While Rabbi Eisenman is currently serving as the Melton Director at Temple Beth David of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, she is also the Temple’s Scholar-In-Residence. Rabbi Eisenman is the proud mother of Samantha, 20 and Joey,18 and is happily married to Marc Gelberg.
