Opening the Heart initiative, this course welcomes grandparents from all kinds of families, including blended and multicultural households. Alongside practical insights and meaningful Jewish learning, you’ll find something many grandparents cherish most: a supportive community of peers with whom to share joys, challenges, questions, and wisdom.

Dr. Jane Shapiro is a teacher, mentor, and consultant in the field of adult Jewish learning. She is one of Melton’s original faculty members, and many of her classes on Torah, Chasidut, Jewish history and literature, and the spiritual practice of grandparenting have been meeting for over twenty years. She has a degree in Jewish Studies from Princeton University and a doctorate from the Davidson School of the Jewish Theological Seminary.
